The Committee will hear testimony regarding workers’ compensation laws in Wyoming and develop a stronger understanding of prevailing challenges to fulfill workers’ compensation benefits in Wyoming. The Committee will consider amending the Wyoming Workers’ Compensation Act to classify public safety communications workers as first responders.
The Committee will review the funds that may be provided to Wyoming through the Rural Health Transformation Program created by the One Big Beautiful Bill and consider how the funds could be invested to stabilize rural communities. The Committee will discuss the requirements for Wyoming to receive funds from the Rural Health Transformation Program and consider legislation for requirements that Wyoming does not currently meet.
The Committee will receive information on current issues in maternity care, including midwifery regulations and ongoing health care provider closures. The Committee will review the scope of practice of certified professional midwives (CPM) in Wyoming. The Committee will explore expanding the CPM scope of practice to include women in good health and preventative reproductive care, as well as including limited prescriptive authority with oversight from the Wyoming Board of Medicine. The Committee will also examine Wyoming’s rural maternity deserts and ongoing closures of hospitals and maternity care units.

The Committee will investigate major challenges facing behavioral health professionals in Wyoming, such as the ongoing shortage of behavioral health professionals in the state and a lack of clinical training slots for Wyoming students. The Committee will develop a greater understanding of behavioral health care availability and consider legislation to strengthen Wyoming’s behavioral health workforce.
